The Harper government is thinking about a proposal to keep hundreds of Canadian troops in Afghanistan until 2014 in a training role.

Sources tell The Canadian Press they expect Prime Minister Harper to decide soon whether to send up to 600 troops to Kabul to train Afghan troops.
