Michael Ignatieff stole a page from former prime minister Jean Chrétien's political playbook Wednesday, announcing that a Liberal government would scrap the multi-billion-dollar contract for stealth fighters.

The Liberal leader said he'd open up a competitive bidding process to find the most cost-effective replacement for the country's aging CF-18 fighter-bombers.
