Surprise Tea Party backed Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell from Delaware, has come out with a political ad meant to defend herself... from herself.

As you may already be aware, there has been a marked up tick in political craziness because of the upcoming mid term elections in the United States.  However, the craziness that we're all used to has increased dramatically with the rise of Tea Party candidates who have been able to mobilize a very effective primary machine which has helped Tea Party favourites like Rand Paul in Kentucky, Sharon Angle in Nevada, Joe Miller in Alaska, and of course Christine O'Donnell from Delaware.  Each of them has a strange mix of ultra religious and anti-government sentiments, as well as a very strong belief in the free market's ability to regulate itself.

You may also be aware that comedian Bill Mahr promised to release a new clip of Christine O'Donnell each week until she agreed to come on his show.  O'Donnell had appeared some 22 times on Mahr's old show Politically incorrect and the first clip he aired was her talking about dabbling in witchcraft. This made quite the splash because of the really conservative Christian views she now holds dear, including anti-masturbation and anti-abortion in all cases.

Watch the first Bill Mahr clip below:

Shortly after the first video was released, O'Donnell appeared on Fox News' Sean Hannity Show to announce that her appearance that night would be the last she would make to national media figures (let's just ignore that Hannity is not a journalist) to focus on local media.  However, even though it was obvious that she wanted to put her past behind her, her and her team decided to cut a new commercial defending herself from herself, in what I can only assume was done to ironically bring even more attention to her somewhat irregular comments about dabbling in witchcraft.  And those strange comments have grown as two more clips have been released, the latest with her listing off each religious group she dabbled in before sticking with Christianity.

Watch O'Donnell's comments on trying out various other faiths on for size:

This brings us to the new commercial released today by team O'Donnell which, in my mind, doesn't help her chances in the midterms.  Why wouldn't you talk about literally anything else?  Like Delaware politics.

Watch O'Donnell tell everyone that she's not a witch:
