Canada's cities and towns are pleading for federal assurance that infrastructure money offered as part of a plan to stimulate the flagging economy will not be cut off to those projects that are not completed by the March deadline.

Three representatives of the Canadian Federation of Municipalities appeared before a House of Commons committee on Tuesday to urge the government to demonstrate its willingness to be flexible.
