G&M: Canada Sheds 6,600 Jobs In Sept.
The Canadian economy unexpectedly shed 6,600 positions last month as
part-time losses outweighed full-time gains, another sign the hiring
spree at the start of the year has come to an end.
The unemployment rate slipped to 8 per cent in September from 8.1 per cent as fewer people, particularly youth, looked for work, Statistics Canada said Friday.
