Obama, Six Months After Health Reform

Six months after the President signed his administration's historic health-care legislation into law, the President is now coming back to the controversial topic to announce the first new measures which have finally come into effect.

There is no question that the health-care bill is massive with much of it still to be hammered out by future legislators and bureaucrats.  So far however, the bill has largely been lost on the electorate since none of it was to be enacted until six months after it was signed.  The President and Democrats in general, have received heavy criticism for using up an entire year working on health-care when the issue on everyone's mind is the economy and jobs.  The White House has responded saying that health-care costs will be the greatest driver of future deficits due to rising costs that far surpass the rate of inflation, meaning that health-care is indeed an economic issue.

It is also a human issue, as already there are over 50 million uninsured Americans and growing.  So it seems that tomorrow can't come soon enough for some.  As of Thursday September 23, insurers will no longer be able to deny children under 19 insurance for a pre-existing condition, children will be able to stay on their parents insurance until age 26, no more life time caps, and insurers won't be able to drop you if they find a pre-existing condition.  Take a look at the full list of changes coming soon here.
