A push to strengthen Canada's pension system that was inspired by the recession is now bogged down in the details and will likely come up short of a fall deadline.

It's been three months since Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced at a Prince Edward Island retreat that a majority of his provincial and territorial counterparts supported improvements to Canada's pension system, including enhancements to the Canada Pension Plan.
