G&M: Jobless Rate Hits 8.1%
Canadian employers created 35,800 jobs
last month as a seasonal rebound in the education sector outweighed
cuts in the private sector, which shed jobs for the second month in a
row.
The country's jobless rate rose to 8.1 per cent in August, from 8 per cent in the prior month as more people entered the labour market in search of work, Statistics Canada said Friday.
