The CBC is reporting that University of Waterloo President David Johnston will be tapped to be Canada's next Governor General by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

He will be taking over the position from the current Governor General Michaelle Jean in September when her term ends.  He was born in Sudbury Ontario and went on to become the Dean of Law at Western University followed by becoming the 14th Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University, before becoming the 5th President of the University of Waterloo.
