G&M: Jaffer-Guergis Inquiry Disintegrates Into partisan Bickering
The parliamentary inquiry into the
Jaffer-Guergis affair broke down in partisan bickering Wednesday
afternoon as Conservative ministers showed up uninvited on behalf of
political staffers who were allegedly lobbied by ex-MP Rahim Jaffer last
year.
The meeting started with about an hour of partisan jockeying as MPs from the Bloc Québécois and the NDP voiced their objections to the Harper government's recent strategy to shield ministerial aides from parliamentary committees.
