Rand Paul Calls Obama Un-American
The Rand Paul train keeps on trucking into the abyss of 'what could have been' for Tea Party hopefuls after an appearance on ABC's Good Morning America today.
Host George Stephanopoulos began with a follow up question surrounding his position on the Civil Rights Act, whereby Paul said that he would not have voted against the Act. Previously Rand had said that private businesses should be able to discriminate, believing that private ownership trumps federal discrimination laws. When asked about his position this morning he began by complaining about his unfair treatment in the media, blaming everyone but himself for clinging to untenable political beliefs.
Following the exchange, where Rand accused Stephanopoulos of being fed his questions by the DNC, the topic moved to the huge BP oil spill continuing to flow into the Gulf of Mexico. Paul decided to use the time on air to attack the Obama administration for being too harsh on BP, saying "accidents happen." It's truly amazing to see not only the incredible political ineptitude, but how he honestly believes that private industry should be left to its own devices and that it can effectively police itself. I would like to see him explain away the financial collapse, the mine disaster, and the BP oil spill as examples of what his ideological unregulated paradise would look like.
