Reuters: Russia's Putin Recognizes Kyrgyz Interim Leader

Vladimir Putin on Thursday spoke to Kyrgyzstan's interim leader by
telephone, effectively recognizing her government, a Russian government
spokesman said.
The phone call was the first public gesture of support by a major world leader for Roza Otunbayeva since she announced she was taking control of the impoverished Central Asian state from President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who fled the capital on Wednesday.
