Obama Delays Overseas Trip To Finish Health Reform
Luke Russert from NBC reported this morning that the President would be delaying his overseas trip to Indonesia on the request of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She was concerned that the distrust between the House and the Senate would hamper her attempts to get the 216 votes needed to pass the Senate bill in the House, and asked the President to keep the pressure up on the Senate to follow through on passing the fixes for their bill through reconciliation.
The other news which broke late yesterday is that negotiations with Bart Stupak (D-Michigan) about abortion language in the bill have ended at an impasse. He has said that he commands at least 12 votes in the House, although Russert says that now there is a set date for a vote sometime next week, several of those no votes under Stupak could be switching to a yes vote.
