Despite predictable, desperate warnings from Chinese officials about President Obama's upcoming meeting with the Dalai Lama, the White House confirmed yesterday that the meeting will happen.  China and Chinese officials have always taken a strong stance against foreign leaders meeting with the Dalai Lama, as evidenced with the response to a proposed boycott of French products when Nicolas Sarkozy held the EU chair and ignored Chinese warnings to meet with the Dalai Lama.

It should be noted that the confirmation of a meeting between President Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama come shortly after a huge $6.4 billion arms deal with Taiwan which ruffled more Chinese feathers.
