President Obama Brilliant Facing Down GOP
Last Friday the American political world was turned upside down in what I can only describe as unprecedented for their style of politics. Usually public debate is fuelled by the media and talk radio, with their particular brand of filter before the actual information disseminates throughout public consciousness. This time was different. This time the White House at the last minute asked for the cameras to continue rolling after he addressed the House Republican caucus as he took questions from several different representatives.
For an hour and a half, the President stood before his greatest enemies and detractors and, as Luke Russert from NBC news said, he was able to directly refute each and every Republican talking point on national TV and did it with a smile. For an American public starving for real debate and not just the mindless droning of Fox News or the partisan attacks from Keith Olbermann have finally seen the meddle of this brilliant President and there's no doubt they will want more from all politicians in the future.
I should make a note that unnamed Republican aids have said it was a terrible mistake for them to allow the cameras to roll for the President's question and answer session, and Fox News left coverage of the open debate when it became clear the President was embarrassing the Republican position.
