It's not really surprising if you've payed attention to Sarah Palin and her religious affinity, but Senator John McCain's top political strategist Steve Schmidt said that when he was concerned that she wasn't responding to being thrust to the forefront of world politics, she said, "It's God's Plan." 

Schmidt added, ""There were numerous instances that she said things that were -- that were not accurate that, ultimately, the campaign had to deal with. And that opened the door to criticism that she was being untruthful and inaccurate. And I think that that is something that continues to this day."
