WaPo: Obama Blames Massachusetts Senate Loss On Middle-Class Economic Pain
President Obama, in an interview with ABC, blamed Scott Brown's victory on the continuing bad economic slump and a high unemployment rate. He added that he is to blame for spending so much time working on policy and not enough time explaining what it is they are trying to achieve. We should mention that one of the political hot potatoes which was brought up during and after the election was whether or not Congress would wait for Brown to be seated before they continue with healthcare or not. The President has said that he thinks congress should wait for him to be seated, echoing Senator Jim Webb's comments following Brown's victory.
"We were so busy just getting stuff done and dealing with the immediate crises that were in front of us that I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people about what their core values are and why we have to make sure those institutions are matching up with those values," he told ABC's George Stephanopoulos.
