Islamist insurgents have been growing as of late in the Russian Caucuses and this morning a vehicle full of explosives was detonated after a police officer rammed the suspicious car with a jeep as it sped towards a traffic depot.  The officer was killed in the resulting explosion along with 6 other officers as well as wounding 20 civilians in the process.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said that the rising level of violence from Islamist insurgents is the greatest domestic threat to the country.
