Reuters: Yemen Kills Rebels It Says Behind Threat To U.S. Embassy
In the wake of the failed terror attack on Northwestern flight 253 and ongoing threats from Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula the United States and Britain have subsequently closed their embassies in Yemen to protect their staff. President Obama and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced a sizable increased investment and cooperation with the Yemeni government to improve security in the country. This morning we are receiving word that the French, Japanese, and Spanish embassies have now closed fearing attack after Somali militants offered to send aid to Al Qaeda in Yemen in the form of manpower.
Reuters is reporting that Yemeni forces engaged suspected militants this morning, killing 2 they say were involved in the threats to the various embassies in the country.
