G&M: Ottawa Will Fast-Track Haitian Adoptions, But Balks At Expanding Immigration
After the devastation in Haiti from a 7.0 earthquake and concern over helping people get out of the country while the rescue and relief effort proceeds, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said that he would fast-track 100 adoption cases already in process, but that there would be no changes to immigration laws.
"Massive resettlement is not a solution to natural disaster. The solution is reconstruction, and we're focused and dedicated to that," Mr. Kenney said.
