G&M: Costs To Soar As Aging Canadians Face Rising Tide Of Dementia
According the the venerable Globe & Mail, the number of people in Canada with various kinds of dementia will increase more than 10 times from current rates because of the rapidly aging baby boomer population. A report commisioned by the Alzheimer's Society called, "Rising Tide: The Impact of Dementia on Canadian Society," says that the country is facing an epidemic and that we need a national plan to deal with the rising costs. The report says that by 2038 dementia care costs could rise to $153 billion per year form what the country spends now at $15 billion.
