CBC: 'Toronto 18' Member Gets 12 Years
Saad Gaya, 22, a member of the so called 'Toronto 18', who were arrested for the plot to set and detonate three 1 tonne ammonium nitrate bombs, targeting the Toronto Stock Exchange, CSIS offices in Toronto, and a military base in eastern Ontario, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. The man was described at age 18 as a smart, but naive young man who was a 'helper' for those who held greater responsibility than him in the plot to kill and terrorize Canadians citizens.
Mr. Gaya has been held in custody for 7 and a half years and will get credit for time served as a part of sentencing and can apply for parole in 1 and a half years.
