WaPo: U.S. Unveils Plan To Rev Up Clean Technology In Poor Nations
In what many will assume is a response to the leaked Danish text which detailed the draft agreement to be unveiled this week and signed as part of the
summit which give more power to rich nations and removes the UN from
future climate talks.
The United States Energy Secretary Steven Chu will unveil a $350 million program over 5 years which will be designed to deploy clean energy technology to poorer nations. The United States will give $85 million to the program while additional funds are coming from countries like Australia and Italy in an attempt to reduce the costs of existing clean technology so that markets in India and Africa can be penetrated.
