Iraq Is Obsessed With Bingo
Fox News just had a report on television covering a somewhat bizarre story about how the game Bingo has become an obsessive past time among former Iraqi generals and powerful Saddam era figures. Apparently the game was introduced as a way to help calm former insurgents and it has caught on incredibly well, with some games paying out 2 or 3 thousand dollars in an evening which would be upwards of a years salary for some. However, the game isn't only for former insurgents, but is now also a part of the evening routine for families who take their kids to play.
It was noted that Iraq is unique in the Arab world because gambling and drinking is an accepted past time.
