Inflation Rose 1 Percent On Gas Prices
Stats Canada released the latest from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and it shows that inflation rates have risen 1% from November 2008 to November 2009. The increased rate is mostly attributable to the rise in gasoline prices which were 14.1% higher in November 2009 than they were in November 2008, after a steady decline of 13.1% between October 2008 and 2009. Overall, energy prices rose 1.3% between November 2008 and November 2009, following a 12.7% decline the month before.
Overall energy prices increased 1.3% between November 2008 and 2009. Also, except for shelter, all major components of the CPI recorded price increases in November. The three components exerting the greatest upward pressure on the CPI were transportation, household operations, furnishings and equipment, and food.
