A media alert out of GM just announced that the board of directors has decided to accept the resignation of the current CEO Frederick A. "Fritz" Henderson, who took over the position from Rick Wagoner.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Edward E. "Ed" Whitacre, Jr., said he will take over the role of CEO while the search goes out for a new one.
