Canada Takes Charge North Of Kandahar City
On the eve of a major policy announcement by President Barack Obama regarding the war in Afghanistan, NATO command has given Canada the responsibility of securing the area north of Kandahar City. Canadian soldiers have been occupying the area in and around Kandahar City itself as of late, but their new orders bring them to what is well known for heavy fighting and a recent influx of Taliban fighters.
Soon NATO troops will be joined by upwards of 30,000 additional US troops, but there is also the hope that other NATO members can increase their own contributions to help stabilize the pseudo country.
