A Senate Committee just approved the nomination of Ben Bernanke to sit for another term as the head of the Federal Reserve by a vote of 16-7.

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has promised to put a hold on a final vote for Bernanke when it comes up for consideration in the whole Senate in January.
