You should all remember the balloon boy incident from a couple of months ago where the Heene family devised a hoax to fool the media into believing that their youngest son had climbed into the families experimental weather balloon which was subsequently released and floated on a 5 hour frightening ride for rescue workers and those enthralled by the story in the media.  What really happened was that the boy was hidden in the attic of the garage and the whole thing was designed to get the family their own reality TV show.

The judge agreed with the prosecution's sentencing recommendation of 4 years probation whereby the family is prohibited from benefiting in any way financially, whether it be books or television, from the notoriety this incident gave them.  Mr. Heene must volunteer at least 100 hours a year for each year on probation and must hold a job with a minimum of 30 hours a week to work off restitutions for the money spent on rescue efforts.  In addition to that Mr. Heene will have to spend 30 days of straight jail plus an extra 60 days of a work release program where he will be released to work during the day and return to the prison to spend the night for a total of 90 days beginning at 9AM on January 11, 2010.
